Merry Christmas

Hello everyone. I'm sitting here at my desk listening to Christmas music and wondering just where this year has gone. Wasn't it just yesterday that I was celebrating New Year's and looking forward to what this year might bring?? I can't believe tomorrow is Christmas already, it totally snuck up on me. I just finnished my shopping and wrapping last week, which is odd for me, I usually have everythig ready to go by the first week in December. Oh well, I guess I can't be on the ball all the time.

I also can't believe all the snow we've gotten. I hate snow and part of the reason I love living in Olympia is that we don't get much, and when we do, it usually melts within a day or two. We've gotten oever 18 inches here in the [ast 2 weeks, and it's still coming! I almost feel like I'm back home (except they really don't plow the roads here...grrrr). I'll have my first white Christmas in about 4 years. I'm so hoping it melts soon!

Anyhow, I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving

I'd like to say the reason I haven't posted in a while was because I've been so busy, but truth be told it's just because I've been so boring lately, ha ha.

This Thanksgiving is the first year I didn't spend the day with any family. My friend Leah invited me to spend the day with her and her family, and since I had no prior plans, I accepted the invitation. I was a little nervous to spend a hiloday with people I didn't know at all, but it ended up be one the the most fun Thanksgiving's I've ever had. Leah is such a great friend and her family was so warm and welcoming...I didn't feel out of place at all.

This past year has been very hard for me, those of you who know my family situation can definatley understand why. I'm so used to being surrounded by family, my own or my significant other's, and not just for the holiday's. This year so much has happened and everyone is growing and going seperate ways. I understand that is part of life, but sometimes I really do miss the way things used to be. I am however grateful for all the wnderful people I do have in my life, even if I don't get to see or talk to some of them as often as I'd like ( or as often as I should).

Little Family Visit

This past weekend I made the nice 4 hour trip to Moses Lake to visit my brother's and their families. To be honest I enjoy the car ride...I may even go as far to say as it's always my favorite part of the trip...but I do love seeing my family. The drive home was beautiful thru the pass with all the leaves bright colors. It was a fairly uneventful weekend, but it was nice to visit, especially because I haven't seen anyone in almost 3 months. I am planning another trip next weekend to. I'm making it a goal to stay a little more connected with family, and I have been soooo terrible about that this past year or so.

I forgot how cold it gets over there this time of year! Next time I'll remember to take a coat.

Deer Hunting

Yes, this last weekend I went deer hunting for the first time. Any who know me know I'm not much of the outdoorsy type, but I actually had a good time. We didn't get anything, let alone even SEE anything. All we ended up doing was a little target practice...I missed everytime, lol. I never could quite get the scope to line up with what I was shooting at. All in all it was still a good trip. We drove around the woods all day and there were some truly breathtaking views of Puget Sound from up on the mountain.

On another note, my friend Leah and I decided we were going to join a gym so we can get all hot :). Really we are just trying to get a little healthier. Tonight we are taking our first yoga class. I should be fun (I hope).

Ah...Fall

The kick off to my favorite time of year. I've had so much going on lately that I've kinda over looked the fact that it was here. Yesterday the weather was cold and crisp, and I noticed all the trees were beautiful shades of orange and red. I got that cozy feeling inside that I do every fall. This weekend we are going to the pumpkin patch, a tradition I've had since moving here. This year Ally won't be with me, but Amanda and I decided to go anyway...we figured we might as well keep it up. So I am looking forward to acres of pumpkins, petting zoos, and hot homemade apple cider (and maybe the hay maze if we're feeling silly).

Busy Busy

The last few weeks have just flown by. I've been so busy at work, it's that time of year in my industry, as well as quarterlies coming up. Ahhh...I'm glad it's October and will settle down soon. I haven't really had time for anything else lately...I haven't even decorated the house for fall yet. Oh well, such id life.

I am really looking forward to my trip to Moses Lake this weekend. I haven't been in a few months and feel like I'm needing some family time. It should be fun.

Weekend Chores.

Of course the one weekend I decide to finally clean out and organize my garage (I've moved into the the house almost 2 months ago) is one of the few nice sunny weekends we've had here in the wonderful state capitol. Oh well, such is life.

I spent all day Saturday going through box after box, trying to deicide what to unpack, what to store, and what to get rid of. I'm amazed at all the stuff I've aquired, and how much I've hung on to that I have no use for...lol. Anyhow, I did run across some old keepsakes: family pics, yearbooks, and a some crafts and what not I made when I was a little girl. The weather was nice, so I was able to set things outside without them being ruined and have some clear space REALLY get everything organized, and it looks great.

Sunday, I was able to get out and enjoy the weather. Jeff and I had lunch at a cute little place just out of town. We then headed to Tumwater Falls to check out all the Salmon that are retuning to the hatchery to spawn. We took a nice little walk around the park followed by dinner at falls terrace with a great view of the waterfall. All in all it was a pretty good weekend.

First Post

So, I have noticed several of my family members are on here, and since I am sooooo terrible about keeping in touch with people, it's a fun, easy way for me to keep up on what is going on with everyone. I thought maybe it would be a nice why to keep people in the loop as to what's going on with me too.

I currently live in Olympia, WA and work part time as an office assistant for a roofing comapny and part time bookkeeping for 2 other companies. I enjoy my work and the flexibility it gives me. other than that, life has been fairly quiet lately, which is a good thing, but I'm thinking I may need to pick up a new hobby...or get back into some of my old ones.
